Puglia
Under the motto "Lu Sule - Lu Mare - Lu Jentu", we embarked on a captivating adventure around Lecce in Puglia and discovered a region full of treasures. We immersed ourselves in the warm embrace of the sun and the gentle touch of the sea and indulged in the region's lush olive groves, tasty cuisine, stunning beaches and ancient villages. Our journey took us to the lively coastal city of Brindisi, a gateway to the Adriatic Sea. We strolled along the picturesque waterfront, enjoying the lively atmosphere and savoring fresh seafood at local trattorias. The charming city of Otranto awaited us with its fascinating blend of history and natural beauty. We strolled through the charming alleys and explored the stunning Otranto Cathedral with its beautiful mosaic floor depicting the Tree of Life. The pristine beaches and turquoise waters provided idyllic moments of relaxation and tranquility.
Maglie, an authentic and picturesque town known for its baroque architecture, charmed us with its elegant palaces and narrow streets. At every turn we discovered hidden gems, from quaint cafes to boutiques selling local handicrafts and traditional products. Gallipoli, a jewel in the Ionian Sea, captured our hearts with its historic old town set on a limestone island. We explored the charming maze of narrow streets with whitewashed buildings and sampled the region's famous cuisine in the trattorias by the harbor, where we enjoyed dishes like fresh seafood and traditional "trappeti" pasta.
We continued to the southernmost point of Puglia, the coastal town of Santa Maria di Leuca. Located at the confluence of the Ionian and Adriatic seas, we marveled at the picturesque scenery and enjoyed panoramic views from the elegant lighthouse that towers over the town. Heading north, we discovered the coastal town of Monopoli with its impressive medieval walls and charming harbor lined with colorful fishing boats. A delightful blend of history and coastal atmosphere, Monopoli charmed us with its quiet beaches, gelaterias serving artisan ice cream, and inviting boardwalks. No visit to Puglia would be complete without exploring Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its unique trulli houses. Walking through the narrow streets of this enchanting town, we marveled at the iconic cone-shaped dwellings, all decorated with ancient symbols and folklore.
However, it was the landscape that left an indelible impression on us. The area around Torre San't Andrea captivated our senses with its rugged cliffs, turquoise waters and hidden coves. We answered the call of adventure to the Grotta della Poesia, a natural limestone cave known as the "Cave of Poetry."
Our journey through Puglia was a mix of sun-drenched moments, cultural discoveries and natural wonders. It was a captivating journey of discovery that left us wanting more and promising a treasure trove of experiences awaiting our return."
